Solar Egas Moniz is a late 19th century bourgeois house in the parish of Paço de Sousa, only 30 minutes away from the city of Porto, which has been restored maintaining its traditional characteristics, in order to offer a comfortable and relaxed stay to those who want to enjoy nature and the historical heritage of northern Portugal.
The Solar has 10 bedrooms of different characteristics. The historical bedrooms are the result of the restoration of the main house and are located on the first floor, overlooking the Paço de Sousa valley. The folk art bedrooms are located on the adjacent building, connected to the main one by a modern fully glazed corridor. They revive the popular art of the North region, enhancing elements such as dance, oil, wine and the handkerchiefs of lovers. All of them overlook an inner courtyard and have balconies overlooking the south. The family bedrooms, located in the historic wing of the house, have a seating area and access to an interior patio. Last but not least, the junior suite is the emblem of the house, inviting you to rest in its lounge area with views of the colorful stained glass window.
Next to the reception, there is a very cozy lounge with library and a fireplace to warm up during the winter months. There is also a breakfast room serving local produce and a wine shop that offers a selection of the best wines of the country, especially the green wines of the region, accompanied by tasty tapas and regional dishes such as cod or roast veal Oven with potatoes and rice and typical sweets. Outside, one may rest in gardens and patios with hammocks, old reclaimed beds and lounges with large pillows. There is also an organic orchard and a swimming pool with privileged view over the valley.
