Solar Egas Moniz is an ideal accommodation to travel with the children of the house, thanks to its location in a quiet village surrounded by nature. It has large family rooms and provides children with real contact with life in the countryside. Active tourism / nature. In the Sousa Valley you can do activities in the middle of nature, such as hiking, bike routes, horse riding, rafting on the Paiva River, BTT and Paiva Walkways (Passadiços do Paiva).
WELLNESS, LEISURE, CULTURE AND HERITAGE /
Termas de San Vicente (9 km). The Termas de San Vicente are known for the quality of their waters, the most sulfuric, sodium and alkaline in Portugal and Europe. They go back to the time of the Romans, year 315 d.C.
Magikland 4 Kids (7 km). A park dedicated to the little ones and not so small. It is an amusement park very close to the accommodation.
Aquatic Park of Amarante (35 km). For families with children, a full day is recommended at Parque Acuático de Amarante, the largest mountain water park on the Iberian Peninsula.
Route of the Romanesque of the Sousa Valley. A tourist-cultural route with more than 50 Romanesque monuments, erected since the 10th century. Within a radius of 5 km from the Solar Egas Moniz you will find 5 monuments belonging to the Romanesque Route. The most emblematic is the Monastery of Salvador de Paço de Sousa, located 200 m from the accommodation.
Places of interest: Paço de Sousa, Penafiel (7 km), Amarante (35 km), Oporto (35 km), Guimarães (55 km).
Preserved towns. A few kilometers from Solar Egas Moniz are two preserved villages: Quintandona (6 km) and Cabroelo (14 km). In them you will live tradition and authenticity.
Valley of the Côa. At 150 km from the Solar Egas Moniz you can enjoy the Côa Valley, declared in 1988 a World Heritage Site, considered one of the most important rock sites in the world.

Make yourself at home. Rest in the living room by the fireplace while reading a book or chat with your partner or family.
A little while in the open air. The gardens show native plants and are equipped with spaces to rest, read or take a nap. There are hammocks, old beds recovered and sunbeds with large pillows, and patios with flowers that provide shade.
A dip? To cool off, nothing better than the outdoor pool with a privileged view over the valley, with a wooden structure around it and grass. For families with children, the pool has an area for the little ones.
Biological garden. The accommodation also has a biological garden. Tomatoes, lettuce, turnips, cabbages, beans, potatoes, aromatic herbs are planted ... Feel free to go to the Biological garden and bring some vegetables to your meals.
Enoteca. Solar Egas Moniz also houses a wine bar with a modern decoration that imitates the traditional Portuguese taverns with contemporary sofas and firewood to warm up the atmosphere. It offers a selection of the best wines of the country, especially the green wines of the region.
The wines will be available for consumption during your stay (honesty bar), with the prices properly presented. Upon prior reservation, a Cook can prepare for you the breakfast, the lunch or the dinner for those days when you don't feel like going out and prefer to stay at home. You will have a choice of options: portuguese tapas, grilled fish, roasted chicken in the oven, 'rojões' or spiritual cod to taste the flavours of the region.
