At the foot of A Fervenza forest, with 300-year-old oaks, in front of a seventeenth century mill, you will find this inn, former miller home:
"[Y] sólo hay dos molinos arineros que muelen con agua corriente el uno de ellos de Don Bernardo de Vande Presbítero, al sitio da Ferbenza do Miño…" ("And there are only two flour mills grinding with running water, one of them of Don Bernardo de Vande Presbítero, in Ferbenza do Miño.") (Castastro de Ensenada, 1752).
This quote faithfully illustrates the origin of this Casa Grande, which was restored preserving its essence of ancient Galician village. The old palleira (haystack) is today a conservatory restaurant with views to the forest and to the original swimming pool. Each guest receives a key to the mill, whose door leads to an idyllic river area, opposite an island which is property of the hotel. Unusual and hidden lagoons beautify this wonderful forest in the banks of Miño River. The tenacity of the hotel owners to prevent its disappearance led them to win the “Forest of the Year 2007” award. Today, it is part of the maximum protection areas in the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve.
