CASERÍO MONTEHERMOSO IS A SUSTAINABLE PROJECT /

This familiar hamlet has been rehabilitated carefully following the bioconstruction criteria. The heating system is based on biomass and the water is heated with wood from the sustainable forests. All the appliances are efficient and LED lights are used. The apartments amenities are ecologic and vegan. The entire resort is guided by the reduction of waste and recycling. Each apartment has a compost bucket and they teach how to make it to the guests that want to learn. El Caserío Montehermoso

The compost is later used in their garden and their organic orchard. For cleaning the complex, they use natural and ecologic products without harmful chemicals. They disseminate the cultural value of their village with guided tours that a neighbor offers to make, being an expert in archeology and ancient history. They contribute to promoting the touristic values of the valley and the Basque country, including its gastronomic offer. They hire providers that live close by, generating employments with decent conditions and they seek alliances with other entrepreneurs with social and environmental values similar to theirs. Also, they promote the environmental awareness among the young ones with a diploma for the sustainable voyager, which they award to those who fulfill the requirements designed for this cause, such as no throwing trash on the mountain or even picking up the wastes found in the environment.

RELAX AND ROMANCE EL CASERÍO MONTEHERMOSO /

Caserío de Montehermoso is perfect for a couple getaway, especially the apartments for two, Gorosti and Artea. They both have chimney in the room and the studio apartment Artea also has a wonderful whirlpool bathtube inside the room, an ecological SPA in the garden and a vinyl record player with a romantic and timeless selection. Also, you can enjoy a wonderful and relaxing massage in anyof the apartments, previously reserved. The sorroundings of the Caserío are perfect for relaxing walks or even enjoying the benefits of a “Forest Bathing” guided by an expert.

TRAVELLING WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS EL CASERÍO MONTEHERMOSO /

One of the apartments, the largest one, Pagoa, has a capacity from 2 to 4 people and it is perfect for a small group of friends or family. It has a fantastic 50 m2 private garden with a balinese hammock, a japanese bathtub (ecological SPA) and barbecue, where you can enjoy the countryside’s pure and fresh air, overlooking a rock castle from the 10th century. NATURE, SPORT AND ADVENTURE EL CASERÍO MONTEHERMOSO /

The surroundings of the Caserío have a great natural wealth, very close by there is a beech forest where you can take walks. Also, 18 km away we find the Vía Ferrata de Sobrón, and much closer, only 9 km away we find the Salto del Nervión, the largest waterfall in Spain, with almost 300 meters of fall. In the Caserío it is also suggested as an activity to practice Nordic Walking on the roads nearby, walking sticks are provided for the enjoyment of this discipline. In summer, yoga classes are organized in the garden and mats are provided to guests who wish to practice during their stay.

GASTRONOMY EL CASERÍO MONTEHERMOSO /

All 3 apartments have their own kitchen, equipped with kitchenware and crockery, which provides full autonomy. and for those who want a complete rest experience, we serve homemade breakfasts prepared with organic products from the farm's garden, as far as possible and according to the season. El Caserío Montehermoso The breakfasts are delivered to the apartments and served in baskets, which are decorated with table linen from the family's trousseau.

There is also room service and a gastronomic experience consisting of a menu designed especially for the guests of Caserío Montehermoso by a former chef of Martin Berasategi. The menu requires a small intervention on the part of the client, who has to finish and plate it following the instructions of the chef himself.
