Caserío de Montehermoso is a rural complex of apartments in Astúlez, in the valley of Valdegovía/Gaubea, at the southeast of Euskadi. This familiar hamlet has been carefully rehabilitated following the sustainability criteria by its owner, Joana Molinuevo, who decided to leave the journalism carrier to address this life project with passion. Love for nature is the axis of this accommodation, where decisions aren’t made without knowing how it influences the natural wealth of the area.
Caserío de Monehermoso is a resort of 3 apartments, decorated with a charming Provençal style, designed with the purpose of generating happiness to its guests through a slow philosophy, caring and respecting the environment and its origins.
Pagoa, Gorosti and Artea are the three apartments of Caserío de Montehermoso, whose names are indigenous trees from Euskadi (beech, holly and holm oak, respectively). All 3 have a kitchen, a chimney and an outdoor area for enjoying the countryside’s pure air.
Pagoa is the biggest, it has a capacity for 4 people and a 50 m2 garden. Gorosti is perfect for couples, and it is also adapted for disabled people. Artea also has a capacity for 2 people, it has lofted ceilings and a very special whirlpool bath, it also has a garden with a barbecue grill and an enchanting balcony.
Caserío Montehermoso offers a unique experience of relaxation using the Ófuros, traditional Japanese bathtubs for the Artea and Pagoa studios guests. This Ófuros benefits for physical and psychological health were discovered 5,000 years ago by the Egyptians. Its wood, when mixed with hot water, gives off natural aromas that induce relaxation and deep sleep.
The connection with the well-being and nature of the Caserío is real, as are the activities that promote it: “forest baths” in a beech forest nearby, yoga, massages and Nordic walking.
In addition, the environment is perfect for biking and hiking. Very close by is the Vía Ferrata de Sobrón (18 km) and the Salto del Nervión, the largest waterfall in Spain.
In conclusion, Caserío de Montehermoso is a sustainable suggestion for travelling in a complete connection with the environment and oneself.
