Beaches, Camino de Santiago and rural tourism in the Basque Country - Hotel Zerupe (Guipúzcoa, Basque Country)

Zerupe represents a new hotel concept located in the heart of downtown in the center of Zarautz, in the Urola Kosta region of the Basque Coast of Guipuzcoa. A quiet area located in a privileged environment for its biodiversity, isolated from noise, where you can walk, enjoy the cuisine and the environment, in a space of quality.

This stretch of territory, located between the mouths of the Urola River in Zumaia and Oria by Orio (southernmost point of the Cantabrian Sea), is crossed by the Camino de Santiago and is characterized by its intensity and diversity of supply. The culture, landscape, nature, gastronomy and leisure converge generating a set that will captivate you.

Zarautz enjoys a wide range of activities to enjoy both the town and its surroundings. The visits to the Historical Centers of Zarautz, Orio, Getaria and Zumaia (cataloged as Cultural Property with the category of Monumental Complex), to the museums of Zarautz, of Zumaia, to the interpretation center of the Camino de Santiago in Orio, to the complex of the Agorregi ironworks in Aia and the Cristobal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria are essential for those who decide to do tourism in this wonderful place. You can also visit the nearest capitals (Donostia-San Sebastián, Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz or Pamplona), making a very complete and varied cultural trajectory.

The six beaches located in this region allow you to rest, stroll or practice sports such as surfing.

In addition to the protected Biotope of Zarautz, with its dunes, marshes and cliffs, you can enjoy the unique landscape generated by the Flysch Geopark in Zumaia with its interpretation center, the Pagoeta natural park in Aia and Zarautz and the protected river areas in the Urola and Oria rivers.

Children of all ages can be accommodated at Hotel Zerupe.

The rooms are very spacious, some triple and even a quadruple, which facilitate the trip with the family.

Sea baths The beach of Zarautz, known as "La Reina de las Playas", is 200 meters from the hotel. With its 2,500 m in length, it is the most extensive of the Basque coast. Two thirds are totally urban and the remaining part is included in a protected natural biotope.

Sea life The six beaches of the Urola Kosta region will allow you to rest, stroll or practice sports such as surfing. Also, you can enjoy the landscape and nature thanks to the walks and routes through various paths in a privileged environment for its biodiversity.

Printing landscapes. Zumaia Flysch is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The spectacular cliffs of the western coast of Guipúzcoa hide a unique natural treasure: successive rock strata of millions of years of geological history that, because of the action of the sea, have been exposed. The most famous is the Flysch of Zumaia.

Route through Urola Kosta. In addition to the protected biotope of Zarautz and the Flysch of Zumaia, you also have to visit the natural park of Pagoeta in Aia and Zarautz and the protected fluvial areas in the Urola and Oria rivers.

Leisure, culture and tradition

Monumental sets. Visit the historical centers of Zarautz, Orio, Getaria and Zumaia, cataloged as Cultural Assets with the category of Monumental Complex.

Santiago's road. The populations of Zumaia, Getaria, Zarautz, Aia and Orio make up the Urola Kosta region of the Basque Coast of Guipuzcoa. This strip of territory located between the mouths of the Urola River in Zumaia and Oria by Orio, is crossed by the Camino de Santiago. In Orio you will find the interpretation center of the Camino de Santiago.

Meet Zarautz. It is one of the most tourist towns in the area and enjoys a variety of activities to enjoy both the town and its surroundings. The main monuments, such as the Town Hall Square and the Basque Museum of Photomuseum Photography, are located a few meters from the hotel.

Haute couture Do not miss the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria.

Complete your trip with a visit to the nearest capitals: San Sebastián, Bilbao, Vitoria and Pamplona.

Flavors of the north. In addition to the tradition of "pintxopote" that invites you to enjoy the atmosphere that is created in the village, you can taste a good grilled fish with txacoli from Getaria, as well as a variety of dishes of great quality and exquisiteness in the different grills and surrounding restaurants.
