Get to know Barcelona

Barcelona has an infinite amount of activities for tourists, as well as a very strategic location. The sea has gifted the region with wonderful beaches and the Pyrenees have provided it with spectacular landscapes. Its towns are culturally attractive for their architecture and their art. The capital, Barcelona, stands out for its impressive buildings and designs by Antoni Gaudí, its dynamic and cheerful environment by night and by day, its many charming boutique hotels and its superb cuisine (both Catalan and international).

The province is very well connected, six hours away by car from Madrid and three hours from Saragossa, being less than three hours away by RENFE train from Madrid to Sants railway station. Barcelona–El Prat Airport, the Port of Barcelona and Sants bus station are the other places to arrive.

The Mediterranean coast has wonderful beaches with calm blue waters that are ideal for family fun time and water sports, especially near the towns of El Maresme, Sitges and Castelldefels. It has more than one hundred hectares of protected nature that provide us with unique panoramic views and paths for hiking, horseback riding and biking. Some examples of these protected areas are El Montseny, El Cadí, El Pedraforca, El Delta del Llobregat and El Camí dels Bons Homes.

Its castles , monasteries, walls and fortified towers add to its singular cultural and offer beautiful monuments to lovers of history and art. La Colegiata de San Vicenc, Cultural Park Montaña de Sal in Cardona, the Episcopal Museum, Vic’s Cathedral and Sant Pere Church in Terrassa are all examples of the cultural richness that can be found in the area. Be sure not to miss Igualada, Bruc, Bagá, Granollers, or the other wonders that the capital has to offer such as the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s cathedral, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Park Güell and Casa Milá, among others. Barcelona also offers culture through its many concerts and expositions.

You can also enjoy a good Catalan meal, with seafood, pork products, game meat, mushrooms and truffles from the Pyrenees, paired with exquisite traditional wines.

Barcelona has an extensive list of charming hotels that are perfect for getting to know its more intimate and authentic side.
