The Baiona full rental house is ideal to enjoy a family holiday, thanks to its spacious interior and exterior spaces, such as the six double bedrooms, the dining rooms, the equipped kitchen, the 2,000 m² garden and the refreshing pool with sun loungers for sunbathe. Children will have plenty of space to play and have fun by the sea.
Nature, sports and adventure
Beaches and water sports. Around the house you can find dozens of wonderful beaches, including the incredible white sand beaches of the Cies Islands, such as the famous beach of Rhodes. For those who love water sports, there is Patos beach, a mecca for surfers from all over Europe. Afife and Ancora are wild beaches that will delight those who seek direct contact with the sea in its purest state. For families, there are cozy beaches in the center of Baiona, such as La Ribeira and La Barbeira.
Bicycles available in the house.
Cies Island. Accessible by boat from Vigo, Cangas or Baiona in high season, the Cies Islands are declared a Natural Park and are home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: Playa de Rodas. In addition to its beaches, the walking routes on the island will leave you speechless with its unique flora and fauna. The route to Mount Faro is preferred by many due to the spectacular nature of the climb to the summit with a magnificent panoramic view that will compensate for the effort.
Mills of Folón and Picón. This route is a pedestrian route on a traditional path that allows to know the historical-ethnographic set consisting of a total of 67 hydraulic mills and in perfect condition that in the form of a staircase ascend a slope. They have been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest by the Xunta de Galicia. Taking advantage of the slope of the river, some mills appear cascaded between hills, trees, streams and mountains, giving the landscape an incredible beauty.
Pools of Mougás and El Rosal. Galicia is a prodigal land in natural springs that the Romans already knew how to take advantage of. In Mougás and El Rosal, the confluence of the streams gives rise to two of the most beautiful corners of the area. During the rainy season there are spectacular waterfalls and in summer you can enjoy a swim in the pools, surrounded by a unique natural environment.
Histoy, culture and heritage
Villa de Baiona. The house is 2.5 km from the Real Villa de Baiona. You can go up to walking (20 minutes) or using one of the bicycles in the house. Baiona has a fascinating artistic legacy. Its old town is declared a historical-artistic complex and houses interesting buildings such as the Monterreal fortress, the Roman bridge of A Ramallosa, or the monument of the Virgen de la Roca. It also highlights the exact replica of the caravel La Pinta, one of the three ships that captained Christopher Columbus on his trip to America. From the religious sphere, the former Collegiate of Santa Maria, the chapel of Santa Liberata and the Cruise of the Holy Trinity.
Holy button. The Celtic hill fort of Santa Tecla hosts the best panorama between Spain and Portugal, separated by the mouth of the Miño river. This ancestral Galician town, located 341 m high, came to welcome some 5,000 people in the first century BC, being one of the largest Celtic settlements in the north-east of the peninsula.
Oia Monastery Just 15 minutes from the house, in the direction of the town of A Guarda, is the Monastery of Santa María de Oia, which belonged to the Cistercian Order. It has Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements and played an important role in the defense of the coast against the attack of the Turkish fleet in 1624.
Peoples of Portugal. Just 40 minutes from the house by highway, you will be in Portugal, which houses an extensive cultural offer with small towns full of history and charm. It is advisable to visit Caminha, Viana do Castelo, Valença do Minho, Vila Nova da Cerveira or Guimarães.
Santiago's road. The Camino de Santiago is one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in the world and at Casa Baiona you can take a stage and become a pilgrim for a few days. The passage through Galicia begins in the town of Sarria, which puts in contact with the most rural Galicia. In Monte do Gozo you can already see the towers of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, a World Heritage City and the final goal of the Camino.
Gastronomy
Another attraction of Galicia is its extraordinary and varied cuisine, in which fish and seafood are the protagonists. Try typical dishes such as the famous octopus with feira, scallops, barnacles, lacón con grelos, capon, empanadas, tetilla cheese, sweet pancakes, albariño wine, coffee liqueur ...
In the house
A little while in the open air. The large estate of the house invites to spend time outdoors, on its porches or in the garden, always with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean. The sound of the sea is a delicious soundtrack that helps disconnect from the first moment. Casa Baiona is one of the few that are so close to the coast, and that is that you take five steps and feel the water on your feet.
Refresh In summer, you can take a dip in the outdoor pool and sunbathe on the sun loungers, while observing the ocean and the vegetation in the garden.
