Casa Amora is a charming guesthouse based in a typical early 20th-century Lisbon bourgeois building, located in one of its most pleasant and central districts, in Praça das Amoreiras. Nearby, you will find an eighteenth-century aqueduct, which survived the great 1755 earthquake, Water Museum and Viera da Silva Museum. The building was rehabilitated in 2012, carefully maintaining all its interior decorative elements, such as stucco and the so-called seismic “Pombal Cage”, as well as tiles and balconies in the exterior. At the same time, modern furniture and a colour palette were added, in order to create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.
It has 11 rooms with private bathroom, 5 of them in the same house, and 6 studios in a contiguous Pombaline Style building. Each room is decorated differently, paying homage to last century’s Portuguese art and culture important figures, such as Amália Rodrigues or Fernando Pessoa. Nothing has been left to chance, which shows in the room details and in the rest of the house. Guests may freely enjoy fruit, tea, coffee and biscuits, while helping themselves with other products from the honesty bar.
Breakfast is certainly one of Casa Amora’s strengths. A rich and tasty buffet breakfast served in the courtyard, with fresh products such as cheeses, different breads, ham, yogurt, cereals, croissants, tea, coffee, juices, biscuits or traditional cakes cream. The scene is set in a very chic atmosphere, with canvas chairs and colourful earthenware from Caldas da Rainha, created by Rafael Bordalo.
Its location is ideal for visiting Rua de São Bento and Rua da Escola Politécnica antique shops, Chiado and Bairro Alto historical districts, as well as Avenida da Liberdade trendy shops.
