Located in the Sierra Morena Natural Park, Hotel Balneario Aguas de Villaharta stands out as the only spa in Córdoba’s province. Villaharta, a small village north of Córdoba, has always been known for its therapeutic waters. Spa Aguas de Villaharta was founded in 1873, although its waters from natural springs rich in iron, sulphur, carbonic acid and many healing properties had its peak at the beginning of the twentieth century. El Balneario has 21 spacious rooms and junior suites, fully equipped, over viewing the estate’s garden and Sierra Morena Mountains. El Hierro restaurant, which maintains the classic aesthetics of yesteryear’s “cortijos”, is a culinary tribute to local produce and flavours of the past. Designed by reputed chef Máximo Doval del Rey, its menu mixes avant-garde and tradition, recovering long-lived recipes. Dishes such as chickpeas with pig's trotters or tripe, codfish or partridge stew and many other popular stews that were once lost. Its wine list acknowledges different Spanish D.O., with local Montilla-Moriles standing out.
