At Christmas it so happens that feelings of joy and nostalgia mix. We enjoy being with our family and the innocence of the children, but we miss those who are gone. It is a luxury to pass these days through the Rossio Square, the Elevador de Santa Justa, the viewpoint of San Pedro de Alcántara, Rua Augusta and especially, the Commerce Square, which becomes the epicenter of the party, where stands out its illuminated tree over 50 meters high. Here you can ice skate, buy traditional fairs products and in their Christmas markets, such as the famous "sport market". But we also recommend you to visit other corners of the city to learn how Lisbon people spend Christmas, such as the Belem neighborhood, the Lapa neighborhood, the Chiado or the fishing district of Alfama, where we find the Cathedral and the Castle of San George.

Other points of interest are churches, where the Christmas Concerts are organized. Besides the markets of the Plaza del Comercio, there are others scattered throughout the city, such as the Convent of Cardaes or the Campo Pequeño. Lisbon is also a good bet for welcoming the year 2020. The Plaza del Comercio is the meeting place for locals and foreigners. Come and eat the grapes, toast with champagne, and enjoy live music and fireworks. And for the most sporty ones, in Lisbon you can enjoy the famous San Silvestre 10 km race.
