This 16th century manor house stands on the bank of the Lima River, 7 km away from the Portuguese village of Ponte de Lima. It was rebuilt in the 18th century, according to Baroque canons and since then has been dwelt by several generations of the Pereira Coutinho family, to become a four star rural hotel, which has respected the structure, characteristics and essence of this family home.

Crossing its iron gates, you access a large patio, which gives access to the different common spaces and the 15 rooms of the hotel. Facing the entrance, you see the imposing main house, presided over by elegant granite stairs. There are six rooms in it, decorated following classic lines that relate to the building’s history. The rooms on both wings, where once the stables functioned, are more contemporary in style. On one of the patio sides, there are 5 rooms overlooking the baroque garden; on the other, 4 rooms overlooking the agricultural field. All of them evocate different tales written by Count Aurora, a remarkable man of culture, inspired by a great sense of belonging to Ponte de Lima. While some rooms are equipped with double beds and others with single ones, they all have spacious Estremoz marble bathrooms, restored period furniture and garden furniture outside.

Touring the house means admiring a successful and delicate fusion between past and present, where stone, wood, lattices, columns and high ceilings stand out. An environment that combines interior and exterior, with common spaces such as kitchen, dining room, lounge, wine cellar, chapel, patios and, above all, the Baroque garden, which is part of the historical gardens of Portugal, with well-kept lawns, camellias, fountains, ponds and suggestive sculptures. In the surrounding area, you may enjoy many activities, such as walks or bike rides along the greenway linking Viana do Castelo with Ponte de Lima. Another option is visiting the beautiful towns of Ponte de Lima, Braga and Guimarães.
