Isla el Maíz, Nicaragua (Corn Island) Islas del Maíz (Corn Island in English) is a Nicaraguan municipality of the Autonomous Region of the South Atlantic (RAAS), made up of two islands located about 70 km east or off the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, which have a total surface area of 12.9 km² approximately and that constitute one of the 12 municipalities of the RAAS. The Corn Islands are formed by the Isla Grande del Maíz, often also called simply Maize Island of approximately 10 km², and the Small Island of Maize, of only 2.9 km².
