Know all about Frutillar

The best thing to do in Frutillar is to discover its black sand beach and crystal clear waters, its clean, neat streets surrounded by rose gardens and wooden buildings in perfect condition. Get lost especially in the aromatic Philippi street, where you´ll find lots of restaurants, emporiums and tea rooms that offer the famous strudels and kuchenes (sweet cakes) of strawberry, raspberry and other fruits of the south. These famous pastry shops are inherited from the German settler who came to the region in the 19th century. The German Colonial Museum and its mill is the place to discover Frutillar's 150-year history and relive the arrival of the German families who founded the entire basin of Lake Llanquihue. But it isn´t only about history and food in this city. During the summer, when the Musical Weeks of Frutillar (Semanas Musicales) are celebrated. Frutillar is known as the ´City of Music´ for a reason. It is the perfect occasion to enjoy classical music shows and some jazz at the newly opened Teatro del Lago, which includes a panoramic view of the surroundings. With capacity for 1,200 people and an immeasurable view of the lake and the volcanoes, this is a place not to be missed. If you want a natural escape in Frutillar, at the end of Caupolicán street is the Edmundo Winkler Forest Reserve, a park and nursery where different varieties of native trees are preserved. It has a path that crosses the native forest which is remained almost intact from the time of colonization. www.chile.travel Book your boutique hotel now!
